We are available for consultation and assistance in setting up internships and recruiter postings, and providing additional career-related resources. We want the recruiting process at UIU to be beneficial for all those involved. Please let us know how we can assist you and your organization.

A variety of services are available to help you succeed in attaining your recruitment goals with UIU students and alumni, while encouraging their professional growth.
Post Jobs
- Post jobs (full-time, part-time, temporary, seasonal) and internships, and review resumes.
Handshake
Handshake is UIU’s online career management system.
On-Campus Recruiting
- Participate in our annual fall internship and career fair and spring virtual career fair
- Host an information table in the Student Center on the Fayette campus (11am-1pm high-traffic times) or at a UIU center (time of day may vary)
- Conduct informational presentations and/or recruiter-hosted events
- Request to hold on-campus interviews
- Classroom visits (by prior arrangement)
- Recruiting may be done at UIU centers with proper approval from center directors.
Any on-campus recruiting should have approval and permission from Upper Iowa University Career Development staff and/or other designated UIU staff. Due to certain limitations and Upper Iowa University policies, not all requests can be granted. Please review our Recruiter Guidelines. Career Development is located in the Student Center (2nd floor, room 211 & 212) at Fayette Campus (campus map).
Speaking/Event Participation
The Office of Career Development provides several programs for students that involve in-person participation by employers and organizations. Workshop presentations and other event opportunities are available.
Sponsorship of the Office of Career Development
On occasion, there are sponsorship opportunities for employers or organizations to contribute financially to the programming efforts of Office of Career Development (e.g. refreshments, supplies). In exchange for this financial support, the business or organization will benefit by receiving additional marketing and publicity opportunities on Campus.

What exactly is an internship?
National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE), in its 2011 position statement, recommends an internship be defined as: “A form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent.”
The National Society for Experiential Education provides “Eight Principles of Good Practice for All Experiential Learning Activities.”
